This company literally stole my money

Updated by user Jan 20, 2023

This company is not sorry they stole my money and shamefully tried to justify it endlessly in my BBB complaint until BBB finally closed it without resolution. Countrywide offered no resolution except they keep my money.

They are totally unrepentant. Their only contact to me was through the BBB complaint. They know they are wrong, but this is how they make their money I guess. Just take the money with no services performed.

I am still out $10,826! A hard lesson learned about the moving industry.

Original review Dec 13, 2022
This company took $10826 from me as a "deposit", and when I got suspicious of the company for taking such a large deposit, not disclosing they were a broker not a mover, and they were sending some other company I had never heard of to actually do the move. I told them I did not want their service and asked for a refund. They refused to return any of they money even though they did absolutely no work for me. When I protested they put me in touch with a lady who was higher up in the company and she said they would have a "meeting" about the refund. After the "meeting" they agreed to give me a "credit" for the amount of my deposit for use in a future move within 12 months. They obviously know I do not want to use them, nor will I be moving again in 12 months. This company is a told scam artist, ripe off company. Stay far away from them. Never call their number.

Below is a list of services that were promised to me in a legally binding verbal agreement and/or in a written contract and were not delivered: 1. The most basic service of having our stuff moved from one place to another was not fulfilled. Over half of our furniture was left in our apartment due to a lack of space in the truck. 2. The inventory specialist we spoke to misquoted our cubic feet allotment by over 600 cubic feet. Not only were we charged an extra $3,000 for the wiggle room we were promised, but we also left over half of our furniture including a mattress, bed, several shelves, bikes, and multiple boxes. There was also an additional long carry fee that was not quoted to us in our initial agreement. Our binding verbal agreement stated that if you choose to use us as your moving company, you will not be faced with extra charges during your move. 3. Upon our agreement in using this service we were promised a delivery date that was not fulfilled. I understand your written contract says something different, but we were assured verbally that even by law it would only take up to 5 moving days. 4. We were not connected to a reputable moving company. This company was hacked and all of our personal information was compromised. The weekend of our move there were a series of phone calls with misinformation regarding when our movers would be there and how to know if they were not impersonators. Once the movers arrived, they did not begin moving our things until three hours after arrival. They did not communicate to us what was happening while they were there. I reached out to the emergency customer service line multiple times and no one was available to tell me if this was safe.

Real Bad Company

If your thinking on using these people, I suggest you don't. I wanted to ship by the weight of my items and they agreed. However, they turned around and charged me by the volume after the truck was loaded. When the truck came, they loaded everything on the floor of the truck to raise volume. They made it look like the truck was full and that is what I was charged on. I didn't feel like I has a choice if I wanted to see my stuff again. However, when the moving truck came to unload me, (10 days later), it was a different truck and everything was taken apart and packed to the roof. The volume was a whole lot less. I was charged for a lot of volume that wasn't. It also said on the moving papers that whatever they take apart, they will put back together. Well, they didn't put anything back together. When I started putting it together, I found a lot of items broken and a lot more had missing parts. When I contacted CSI, a legal firm that is supposed to represent the people, they dismissed my claim and just sided with moving company. This was a terrible ordeal all the way through. I've done a lot of moving in my life and this was definitely the worst moving company I ever had. I could go on and on but I'm sure you got the message. I'll repeat my first statement. If you are considering using this moving company, I strongly suggest you don't!!!

COUNTRYWIDE ARE THE WORST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!

They gave me a quote and after they loaded the truck, it was doubled! They promised delivery on a certain date & showed up 5 days later! The majority of my furniture is damaged and there is something broke in every box! They left a whole pallet of our stuff at the warehouse so now I have to wait 3 more days for the rest of our belongings! I keep calling them to file a claim and left messages on every extension and no one will call me back. I cannot believe these people are still in business. I should have read all the reviews before I hired them. I don't know how they sleep at night knowing they are screwing so many people.

Countrywide Relocation, LLC.

My office is located in Panama City, Fl. Moving an office is a daunting task, while taking care of the business and clients and setting up everything as planned in the new space. A big thanks to Alan and his Countrywide Relocation LLC for taking care of the moving responsibilities so well. I like their expertise as they knew well about packaging everything with care and were extremely professional, courteous and helpful. They went pretty well on my expectations. I have previously faced the worst of moving companies with their zillion problems before I hired Countrywide Relocation LLC. The positive thing about Alan’s team is that the moving guys were right on schedule, packed up everything with utmost care and were quick to hit the road, again on the scheduled time. They had an impressionable method of packing, organizing and loading the stuff with great ease and gave me a timely delivery at my new address.

TIMOTHY, ROBERT, AND LEO ROBBED ME, THEY ARE CROOKS AND CRIMINALS, LIARS, AND THEIVES! STAY FAR AWAY!!! BUYER BEWARE, DO NOT USE!

First of all, thank you, all you Yelpers who post such thorough reviews. I'm sure my move could have been even more disastrous than it was had I not learned up front about moving brokers. There was one filtered review for this company that I wish was not filtered - my experience, right down to named individuals, was similar. Make sure you read the filtered reviews! I have moved five times in my life, and this was easily the worst, most unprofessional experience I have ever had. I also spoke with "David" initially, who quoted me an insane $7200 to move. I politely declined, saying they were $2000 higher than the next-highest quote I got. Then the phone got handed to "Joseph" for the hard sell. My guard should have gone up, but by then I must have just been tired. Eventually he came down to a guaranteed "not to exceed" estimate of about $5300, matching the next-highest quote I got. I got nonstop rambling about how they were honest and beware of brokers and it'll be the greatest experience I'll ever have etc etc etc. I swear I thought I did my due diligence... I wonder what I read instead?? He said they didn't cheat people; they didn't go by cubic volume, they went by weight. They'd load the truck, weigh it, and my price would be based on that. He told me not to worry, his estimate was so high there was no way I'd end up paying that much (ie, the $5300). OK, I'm 100% ashamed of myself and feel stunningly pathetic for having bought that, but I did. I pressed him repeatedly: this is it, right? NO other charges? NO other surprises? No, no, no, no, he swears (even in emails, which I have copies of). But when I went to sign the contract, it said that they were "not responsible for glass." So I called him up and said "um, what about this? I have 4 glass coffee tables, a large mirror in my bedroom, and three mirrored panels in a piece of furniture," and he said "oh, that's OK, we'll tell you how to pack it." WTF? I said "actually, the way it gets packed is that YOU pack it, just like every other mover I had. Then he said they'd have to charge me for packing materials, how all the glass had to be wrapped and crated, and I said the other movers I used wrapped all the glass in blankets and taped them securely. He said they'd get fined by the DOT if they did that kind of thing and oh my god what kind of moving companies had I used before etc. He said he was unaware that I had any glass in my load, when just before I had given "David" an inventory right down to exact number of boxes and not only which pieces were glass, which ones had to be disassembled and wrapped. I kept ignoring the red flags... He assured me that even with the extra packing charges, I'd still come way in under the weight estimate. He said he'd be sending 8 or 9 men. 3 showed up, with a truck that fit half my belongings. 2 men unloaded it the next day, and scheduled me for the next day to load and deliver the rest of the house. Then they tried to delay it (now I'm dealing with "Leo"; I note on the BBB site that the owner of the company is a "Leo," although he was introduced to me as the "scheduler" or "dispatcher"), until I pitched a serious fit. I was charged for things Joseph said were included (piano fee, mattress fee, and they tried to charge me a credit card fee, which I simply refused to pay), there were 2 truckloads, nothing was weighed. Not everything they disassembled got reassembled, large pieces of furniture are still taped (I even have a chest of drawers wrapped and taped in one of their blankets), they left the first house a disaster and removed a piece of trim from the stairs, and didn't even pack everything... two futon mattresses "didn't fit on the truck." And it was NOT their truck, as noted by the other reviewer, it was a Hertz-Penske truck. Arguably, I got all my stuff (as far as I can tell) and nothing is broken (as far as I can tell), and my experience isn't as horrific as some of the others I've read on here, but PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY. They are fraudulent in their practices and staggeringly unethical in their behavior. I have reported them to the BBB and the DOT and filed a dispute charge with my bank. PLEASE DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AND HIRE A DECENT MOVER! Best of luck to all of you; may none of you ever experience this kind of thing!

COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC OUT OF EMERSON,NJ – SCAM SCAM SCAM – DISHONEST, IRRESPONSIBLE BUNCH OF CROOKS - SAY ANYTHING TO GET THE DEPOSIT AND THEN THEY RIP YOU A NEW ONE WITH HIDDEN FEES AND CHARGES

COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC OUT OF EMERSON,NJ – SCAM – SCAM – SCAM – DISHONEST, IRRESPONSIBLE BUNCH OF CROOKS - SAY ANYTHING TO GET THE DEPOSIT AND THEN THEY RIP YOU A NEW ONE WITH HIDDEN FEES AND CHARGES. THEY ARE ALL SCAMMERS, THEY TAKE DEPOSITS AND DON'T COMPLETE MOVES THEMSELVES. DO NOT GET ABUSED, OR FALSELY ADVERTISED NOR SOLD ON THIS CUP OF B.S. THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST LEMONS YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUY IN TO! NOT EVEN REGISTRED WITH BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!!!!!!! COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC - LIERS, SCAMMERS AND TERRIBLE PEOPLE. In February I internet searched for a moving Company. At first everything looked ok about COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC. The estimate was in writing so I decided to move forward, The representative Allan was pleasant so I told him a tentative date and I would sign the contract. The next week I called because I had an exact date and then I found out the true color of COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC. They first want more money than any other company I called for deposit and they want it non-refundable. I was very uncomfortable with this as what if they don't show? So we agreed on $500 instead of a 1/3 of the move down. Then I was 1 week from move date and the push began. Three different people called from COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC wanting half of the move money and Joseph especially pushed hard even after I told him I was not at home and would have the funds when they picked up my belongings as per THEIR AGREEMENT. He was very insistent but once again I do not believe in paying for something up front when no service has been rendered. If you are planning on moving, DO NOT USE COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION,LLC. They will rip you off. I started out with an estimate of $1,290 and then to $1,480 to finally costing us almost $2,100. I had asked specifically if they had their own truck and they told us that they did and they do not contract their work out to other movers. LIES!!!!!!!!!! The guys showed up with a white unmark truck. Fast forward to when the furniture was delivered…it was delivered by another trucking company. At each step of the way, they called to add more fees for something else. The customer service is nice to you until they have your furniture. On numerous occasions when they called me for more money and I questioned it, the boss got on the phone and yelled at me, cursing me out. I have never, ever, ever dealt with such unprofessionalism in my life. When the other trucking company showed up with our furniture in Georgia, they came with an 18 wheeler. Well, it was clear that the truck would not get close to our building because it was sooooo huge. We had to fork out another $200 because they would have to walk too far with the furniture. If we didn’t pay it, they threatened to leave our furniture outside on the curb. DO yourself a favor and use a reputable company. After they totally destroyed my 40 inch brand new Sony, which they wrapped and boxed. After they destroyed an 8 piece Waterford crystal glass set, a limited edition tiffany lamp, a brand new 8 serving corralled dinner set, a missing printer. Not to mention all the other hidden charges, and despite a detailed inventory list of course the final cubic weight came in well above the additional estimate and I had to pay 1600.00 more. As for my damaged items, the original salesperson, who is no longer with the company told me my insurance was covered in the original estimate. FLAT OUT LIE, it was not and I wound up getting 60 cents per pound for all my damages which came to about 90.00 plus dollars, despite the fact they destroyed over 1,000.00 dollars worth of goods. THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF, IT ADE MY MOVE A NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE. IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU STAY AWAY

I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life when I hired countrywide relocation for an office move. These potato heads are the dumbest movers I have ever seen.

First of all they came 3 hours late and then they just spoiled everything. They were messy while wrapping, broke and damaged many of the fragile stuffs during packing and loading. Delivered my goods 5 hours later than the allotted time, stole my LED TV, Xbox and few other electronic gadgets, charged me double than the original quote. When I asked for the compensation they misbehaved with me and left the remaining furniture on the road!

I am surely going to complain against them to the correct authority. Meanwhile I request everyone to stay away from these cheaters.

Be aware from these scammers. They are not real pros.

Moving is not their real business. These guys are a bunch of liars who are thieves too. They just ruined my move. I made a mistake hiring them without thinking much and they made me pay for that.

They have stolen my crystal show pieces, iPad and many other tiny stuffs, damaged my laptop, LED TV, furniture and my son’s stuffs. I do not want to linger my review. I just want to warn everyone from these frauds.

So not use these cheaters. JUST STAY AWAY FROM COUNTRYWIDE RELOCATION LLC.

Countrywide relocation llc is the biggest scammer I have ever come to know. Recently I made the biggest mistake of my life by hiring them for my move.

They stole my stuffs, damaged most of the furniture, charged a lot more than the initial quote. I am really upset on them. Being honest I will never ever use these frauds again. I do not want anyone to hire them and suffer like me.

so, be careful from these cheaters. DO NOT USE THEM.

Countrywide relocation are crooks

I was quoted a price in writing and after they loaded my furniture I was told I had to pay $1700.00 more. These guys are very unprofessional, they drank on the job, and smoked like crazy. During the move the forman was constantly hitting on my wife asking her for her Facebook info and searching for it while on the job.I'm totally disgusted with this company. When I refused to pay the rip off price they closed the truck and drove off with my furniture. I called costumer service and the rep cursed me out saying "I had their men work all day and know I don't wanna pay". I've never been spoken to like that by a company representive ever in my life. Beware of this company they're nothing but flat out crooks!!

Yea I too used this company. I'm missing more stuff than I know and can't tell you how much of my stuff is totally ruined.

They showed up with no hand trucks or ramps in rented a rented truck that they had to jam my stuff into.

On the back end they couldn't unload my stuff without my pick up truck. You wouldn't happen to have my blue cooler would you?

Awesome Move thank you Countrywide relocations

Countrywide relocation was the best company that I have ever dealt with. My price never changed since the first time I booked it with them. They are an honest company with amazing sales reps. I had to get out of my house at a specific date and the honored my pick update with no issues. As a matter of fact, I have dealt with brokers before and they subcontract your job to another source but with Countrywide you don’t have to worry and they are always on time because they are the actual carrier. They treated my valuable belongings with care and respect. The whole moving crew was phenomenal. I would recommend this company to anyone moving!
